Demi Lovato’s new dark hair goes perfectly with her awesome Smokey eye makeup look. She went heavy on the eye makeup but went nude on the lips. That’s make up tip no. 1 for you, if you already have heavy eye makeup on, try to not or shall I say “Do Not” put a super dark lipstick on your lips, go for something light or nude. She also has a really strong defined eyebrows and false eyelashes on. This is practically what everyone has been talking about, “How to achieve Demi Lovato’s Smokey eye makeup look”, the steps on how to do it and what colors are similarly used to achieve the look. So I’ve written down 5 easy simple steps to achieve her Smokey eye look.
For the Smokey eyes:
To start with:
Step 1: Primer your eyes. This will allow your eye makeup to stay all day. I suggest using the urban decay’s primer potion, put that all over your lid. Don’t put too much so that your eye makeup won’t crease out. Another tip if you don’t have any primer such as the Urban Decay Primer potion simply use any concealer, put that all over your eye lid and pat it with any translucent powder.
Step 2: Take a black cream eye shadow pencil or may I suggest using the NYX Jumbo pencil in black put that on your lids, that would serve as a base before you put on your eye-shadows, it will bring out the intensity of the color even more.
Step 3: Now on with the eye shadows. Take a shimmery brown eye shadow and put that all over your lids bringing it up pass the crease, basically following the shape of your eye brows and dragging it down underneath the eyes as well, then take a black eye shadow and create that “V-shape” starting at the outer corner of your eyes, bringing it up to your crease, work your way in and blend it well together with the brown eye shadow. Next is highlight, put a silvery eye shadow in the inner corner of your eyes bringing it in just a little bit. Then lastly take any mat white eye shadow and put it underneath your brows to define your eye makeup & eye brows even more.
Step 4: Take a black eye liner and line your upper & lower lash line and your waterline as well. Blend the eye liner underneath your eyes & begin to smoke it out. Put mascara on your upper and lower lashes. For a more dramatic look put on some false eye lashes, it’ll make your eyes stand out.
Step 5: Lastly for the eyes define your brows, fill in your brows with an eye dark shadow or an eye pencil that would match your hair color.

Do you want to know what would make your Smokey eye makeup look stand out?-It’s all about the face baby. A clean and well concealed face is going to make your eye makeup stand out when everything else on your face is light, matte and contoured, it is going to draw more attention to your eyes, no dark harsh blush please, you just want a well contoured face that would emphasize your features even more. Say no to hot pink or red blushes, please save yourself from looking like a clown, seriously, I’m not kidding.
Bonus: For the face you would always want to clean out any fall outs caused by your eye makeup, that’s why as a makeup artist I do prefer doing the eye makeup first and then I proceed to the face.
For the face
Step 1: Start out with a moisturizer. Put that all over your face and don’t forget to put your neck too. By moisturizing your face you’re setting up a good base for your foundation and concealer to smoothly glide and to stick on your face really well.
Step 2:Next is Foundation, take any foundation that you have and evenly put that all over your face and neck. I prefer using a foundation/concealer brush on applying the makeup on your face because it gives that even finish look. If you’re more of a sponge user, word of advice, “Wet Your Sponge Woman”, so that your makeup won’t cake up on your face.
Step 3:Then take your Concealer, gently pat and blend a generous amount underneath your eye area if you have any dark circles and also at the sides of your nose to cover up the redness if you have any, and on to your blemishes & pimple marks as well.
Step 4: To finish off put any translucent powder of your choice onto your face to seal and secure your makeup.
Step 5: If you don’t want to look pale or you want to add on some blush or emphasize your features, instead of using a pink or red blush use a Bronzer, put on that your cheekbones, underneath your jawline and neck area, blending it well using your contouring or blush brush.
